Subhadra Mahatab Mahavidyalaya, Asureswar, Cuttack is 2 kms.. from the Cuttack-Chandabali Road on the bank of the River Luna about forty eight kilometers to the east of Cuttack. Asureswar is a place rich in heritage. It has seen many upheavals in the corridor of history. Distinguished writers of modern Odisha like Karmaveer Gouri Sankar Roy, Ramasankar Roy, Pandit Bhajakrushna Mishra and forefathers of Late Dr. H.K. Mahatab eminent educationist like Dr. Ramanath Mohanty,

Dr. Harihar Mishra, Prolific poets like Kabisurya Sadananda Brahma and Golak Chandra Pradhan who have earned the pride for this locality. In the past it was a centre of many political activities and religious movements. Asureswar is fortunate enough to be one of the few places where the dawn of the first English Education was heralded in 1844. Subhadra Mahatab's dedicated life, her remarkable contribution to freedom struggle and social reconstruction made her a household name in Asureswar, her birth place. A lot of inspired admirers of Subhadra who attempted to translate her dream of setting up of an educational institution resolved to name it in her cherished memory.
